This project was a collaboration between Anne Arundel County and the Department of Natural Resources. Sigma Engineering was hired to design a water-quality stormwater facility within the property of an existing library. The library had no existing stormwater management, but did have an open grass area where a facility could be implemented. Ultimately, an attractive bioretention facility was designed and constructed, which provided for water-quality treatment of the library roof areas, as well as the adjacent parking lot. The facility was adapted to serve as an educational facility with walking paths, benches, and signage to educate the public on stormwater management. The project was planted, in part, with the help of students from nearby public schools and maintained by members from the adjacent community. |
