The Annapolis Armory job was a design/build project, in which Sigma Engineering was part of a design team along with Hencken & Gains General Contractor, Hord Coplan Macht Architect, Mincin Patel Milano Structural, Tourgee & Associates Mechanical and Engineering, and Earth Sciences Geotechnical, among others. The project consisted of upgrading and making additions to an existing armory in Anne Arundel County. Civil-related design included expanding and modifying the existing parking, site grading, water and sewer alterations, storm drainage and stormwater management improvements, landscaping and specifications, and overseeing the approval process for the site plans through the various agencies. The project was difficult due to coordination with city, county, state, and federal agencies reviewing the project. Sigma was able to coordinate and expedite the review process, saving valuable time for the client. Throughout the construction process, Sigma was able to eliminate the need for onsite stormwater management, saving a tremendous cost for the client. |
